Watched the YouTube video on Web 2.0. It was numbing to think how far we've come in such a short time. The power for sharing information, tomes of information, is overwhelming. I was particularly taken by the authors last few frames where he "spoke" of new benchmarks for copyright, authorship, ethics, accuracy, etc.
He also spoke of something very briefly: love. That term meant something different to me in this context. I see the Web as literature -- non-fiction literature to be exact. But it seems to lack poetry. Yes, pictures can ellicit profound emotion, but it's not the same as human contact or poetry. A picture or video will generate an immediate emotional response. The picture is immediate and the response is too. Human contact develops the emotional response slowly -- like poetry.
I hope we never lose that.

Nicely stated! You may want to read a couple of our fellow ASH bloggers...some are incorporating poetry in their blogs.
